Alberta teacher nominated for Canadian Family teacher award

Every spring, Canadian Family magazine celebrates teachers by presenting three teacher awards. This year, Jordan Smith, a Grade 6 teacher at Brentwood Elementary School in Sherwood Park, is one of the 12 finalists. A colleague describes Jordan saying, “He truly believes that mind, heart and body have to be nurtured in school, and he does it in so many ways.”

Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month

June is Recreation and Parks Month. To celebrate the occasion, the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) has created a number of classroom-friendly challenges. Participating schools have the chance to win prizes, including a $2,000 Healthy Eating, Active Living grant. 

Lethbridge DEHR committee seeks new members

The newly formed Diversity Equity and Human Rights (DEHR) committee of ATA Local No 41 is looking for new members to join its ranks. This group of dedicated and enthusiastic teachers believes in the vision of DEHR and in the greatness of students, colleagues and community members in the southwest.
